			 STARVE TO DEATH?

Tsachi Hanegbi, a politician with a rich past as a radical right-wing law-
breaker, does not care, as he put it, if the Palestinian prisoners 
"starve to death".

An inhuman statement by the Minister for Internal Security, on behalf of 
an inhuman government. This is not the kind of state we want Israel to be.

The IDF generals declare again and again that "we are at war". In a war, 
there is an enemy. Captured enemy fighters are prisoners-of-war. 
Prisoners-of-war are not held for punishment or revenge, but for the sole 
purpose of preventing them from 
going on fighting.

A civilized state accords prisoners-of-war all possible humane conditions, within 
the limitations inherent in their being prisoners.

This we demanded, at the time, from the British authorities, when they held our 
underground fighters.

This we demand from ourselves now, when we are holding members of the Palestinian 
organizations.

We demand immediate negotiations with the prisoners' representatives  about decent 
prison conditions, suitable for a civilized state.

						GUSH SHALOM

Tomorrow, Saturday, at 5 p.m., we shall demonstrate in front of Hasharon prison, in
