[NABLUS] Curfew has been lifted today in Nablus but the Israeli army has set up numerous roadblocks and checkpoints preventing the people in outer villages from reaching the main commercial center of Nablus. This morning five internationals began accompanying Palestinians from the village of Beit Farik across this ad hoc checkpoint so they could restock desperately needed food. Soldiers attacked the team and the locals with concussion grenades and diesel smoke from the tanks. Eventually, due to the persistence of the international team and the steadfastness of the local population the checkpoint was opened and Palestinian traffic is going through after having their ID’s checked. Beit Farik is in the midst of a water crisis and the Israeli army has not been allowing water trucks into the village. Internationals demanded that this incredible human rights violation cease and water be allowed into the village. An army commander capitulated and some trucks are going to be allowed to pass. Internationals got the telephone numbers of drivers and will maintain contact to insure the water is delivered.
