To the Editor, I am writing to express my support for the principled and courageous initiative of Gush Shalom to inform IDF personnel that by committing actions that may be war crimes they not only run the risk of violating international standards of morality, but also international law as well - for which they may be held accountable. Israel was rightly established soon after the horrifying events of WWII, and I urge you to consider the following quote when joining in an unprincipled attack on a group which embodies the very best standards of peaceful co-existence, humanity and Judaism: " Individuals have international duties which transcend the national obligations of obedience. Therefore [individual citizens] have the duty to violate domestic laws to prevent crimes against peace and humanity from occurring " -- Nuremberg War Crime Tribunal, 1950.
