War Crimes

Supporting Gush Shalom against war crimes

A letter from Yael Lotan

Dear Dr Rubinstein,

As an experienced jurist you know that sending warning letters to senior officers who described publicly acts they had committed in their military service which appear to be in contravention of the Geneva Conventions, is a perfectly legitimate action.

Instead of investigating the senders of the letters, who are not anonymous, it would be more appropriate to investigate the above acts. The exposure of transgressions is not a crime - the exposed acts may have been crimes, and it possible that their perpetrators may one day have to account for them in a court of law.

It would be better if the Attorney General considered this possibility, rather than be pressured into harassing the letter writers.

Yours respectfully,

Yael Lotan
