The 60th Independence Day
Will be celebrated
With boastful wastefulness.
This week Israel looked
Cruel and callous.
Instead of accepting gladly
The proposed cease-fire,
It sent its soldiers into Gaza
For another brutal and senseless attack.
It refused to take responsibility
For the killing of a mother
And her four children.
Those who love Israel
And worry about our image and future
Will find it hard to rejoice and be proud.
We have not lost our hope
To live in a country
We can be proud off.
