Days of jubilation for both peoples
With the release and the return home
Of Gilead Shalit
And of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners
A stable cease fire would give rest
In Sderot and Rafah, Gaza and Ashkelon
And at last the suffocating siege be lifted
The outgoing government,
Which twice chose for terrible war
Could at least end its term
On a positive note
