Gush Shalom
/////////////////////
This is to thank those who already send money for flour
and remind those who didn't yet. You can still do it. Just tell us how much
you send us. On Friday, when we buy the flour, we will include the
announced ones.
Saturday morning we will bring the floor - and there is a possibility of joining
the food transport for a limited number of people. For details and for
reserving a place - phone to 03-5221732, and leave your name and number.
[as background here follows earlier message]
Hawara-Enabous neads pita's with the olives
We want to send them a truck-load of flour
In these days it's not enough to speak out and protest - and feel frustrated
that the worldwide protests didn't succeed to prevent the war. Nor is it
enough to create - as we are doing - a worldwide Emergency Network to
Protect the Palestinian People - for the most efficient and speedy
dissemination of any sign of ethnic cleansing - though that effort has the
highest priority. There is also the ongoing problem of Palestinians to get to
the next day.
Inhabitants of Hawara-Enabous south of Nablus, in the West Bank, go
through hard times. Because of closures and curfews these people already
are barely subsisting. Now there is the panick that things can turn even
worse. As villagers, they do have oil - we ourselves helped the in Enabous
during the olive harvest. Most families also grow some herbs and vegetables
around the house, but what they need to buy - and money there isn't - is
flour. One 50 kilo sack costs 75 NIS (approximately US$17). It is the kind of
help UNWRA is providing in Refugee Camps. Now the need is far more wide-
spread. Israeli groups and individuals have been involved in bringing food,
especially to cut-off villages, ever since the beginning of the Intifada.
Gush Shalom has several times sponsored the initiatives of Ta'ayush. Now
we decided to "adopt" ourselves this one village - to begin with. If you help
us, we can do more.
If you are willing to participate please inform us, so that we can help
immediately, that you are sending a donation for:
1 sack - 75 NIS / US$20 (including $3 foreign currency fees)
2 sacks 150 NIS / US$37
3 sacks 225 NIS / US$54
etc.
Please, send your check (earmarked for ..x sack of flour) to:
Gush Shalom
pob 3322
Tel-Aviv 61033
Israel
NB: if you want a confirmation of receipt include your email address with the
check.
For people abroad:
You may ask us whether there is a charity in your country through which
you can send us tax-deductible donations, but please announce us already
which sum to expect.
