UPDATE
More Palestinian children killed
26 March 2003

Israeli soldiers last night shot and killed a 10 year old girl during their
assassination of another Palestinian in Bethlehem.

According to witnesses, Israeli uniformed and plain clothed soldiers entered
Bethlehem in the late afternoon, and opened fire on two cars that were
driving on a main road in a residential area in the vicinity of the Shepherd
’s Hotel.

Muwaiq Abdel Raziq Badawni, 40 years old from the Aida refugee camp, and two
other men, as yet unidentified, were killed. According to a report from the
Beit Jala governmental hospital, Badawni died as a result being shot in the
head with live ammunition; the bodies of the two other men are still with
the Israeli military. It is assumed that Badawni was the target of this
latest Israeli extra judicial execution which are illegal under
international law and the Geneva Convention.

George Saidi’, a school teacher from Bethlehem, his wife Najwa and their two
daughters, Marianne, 12, and Christine, 10, were driving on the same road
when their car was also fired on by Israeli soldiers. All four members of
the family were shot, and were taken to the Hadassa hospital in Jerusalem,
however Christine died on the way. Later the body of the ten year old was
transferred to the Beit Jala governmental hospital; according to the doctors
at the hospital she died from a bullet to her head. The doctors also
commented that her wounds were consistent with an “exploding” or high
velocity bullet.

Christine is the third child to be killed by Israeli troops in two days. 14
year old Hakim Bassam Nassas, aged 14 was also shot dead yesterday in Jenin.
On March 24, Ahmed Imad A-Bahri, aged 10, also from Jenin was shot in the
head by an Israeli sniper.

Five Palestinians, including a 10-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy, were killed by the
IDF in the West Bank yesterday, Palestinian sources said. Also yesterday, the IDF
apprehended a Fatah-Tanzim leader suspected of involvement in multiple terror
attacks.

Four Palestinians, including the 10-year-old girl, were killed by IDF fire in Bethlehem,
Palestinian residents reported. Apparently, the incident occurred when a special IDF
force was trying to assassinate two wanted terrorists. The force opened fire at the car
with the terrorists, but also killed a passerby, Muwafat Badran, and a girl in the car in
front, Christine Sa'ada.

According to the Palestinians, the force snatched two of the bodies and disappeared.
The child's father, George Sa'ada, and her mother and sister, have apparently
sustained moderate to serious injuries and were taken to Hadassah Hospital.

In Jenin, a 14-year-old boy was shot dead and a 12-year-old boy was seriously
wounded by fire from an Israeli tank, doctors said. The Israeli military said they were
shot while climbing on an armored vehicle.

Yesterday was the fourth day of the army operation in Jenin, and the IDF yesterday
captured Nidal Narnariya, who is suspected of being involved in several terror attacks,
including last week's shooting on the road between Mevo Dotan and Shaked, and the
deadly attack in Beit She'an at the Likud's internal elections a few months ago, in
which four Israelis were killed.

Narnariya is also said to have been involved in recruiting and distributing arms to
Tanzim members. Sources in Israel's defense establishment said Narnariya was
planning two suicide bombings inside Israel in the next two days.

In the Balata refugee camp near Nablus, the IDF apprehended Fahed Abu Khamed,
who was apparently planning to carry out a suicide bombing.

In Ramallah, the IDF arrested two Fatah activists who were reportedly driving a car
with fake EU plates.

Curfew in Jenin continued, but no curfew was imposed anywhere else in the West
Bank.

The military court sentenced three Palestinians to consecutive life terms after
convicting them of involvement in fatal attacks against Israelis, the military said.

In a statement from the military court near the West Bank Jewish settlement of Beit El,
the military said the three were members of an Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades cell in Jenin.
The group is affiliated with Fatah, the movement headed by Palestinian leader Yasser
Arafat.

The military said the three carried out shooting attacks on West Bank roads and
Jerusalem. The commander of the cell, Mohammed Mazlah, was sentenced to nine
consecutive life terms. Among the incidents in which the military said he was involved
was the attack on two unarmed Israeli reserve soldiers who lost their way and entered
the West Bank Palestinian town of Ramallah in October, 2000. A mob stormed the
police station where they were taken, beat them to death and threw their bodies out a
second-story window.

Another member of the cell received 16 consecutive life terms, and the third was
sentenced to four consecutive life terms and an additional 15 years in prison.

The defense establishment now has knowledge of 60 terror attacks planned for the
near future.
